Keto diet or ketogenic diet is a feeding habit that includes low or no amount of carbs, with a high proportion of fats and a moderate quantity of proteins. The main purpose of a keto diet is to force your body to use fats as its main source of energy instead of carbs.
Although keto diets usually contain a high proportion of animal-based foods, it is still a possibility to structure out a diet suitable for a vegetarian. It is easier for most vegetarians to subscribe to the keto diet since they still eat other animal products like eggs and milk but strict vegetarians who do not take any food sourced from animals will find it harder to manage a keto diet.
The major supply of energy in keto diets is fat, plus since animal-sourced fats are out of the option, partakers are limited to fat sources like coconut oil, avocados, seeds, nuts, and eggs. Plant-sourced proteins like beans can also be taken while non-starchy vegetables like cauliflower is a great option. Keto diet and vegetarianism separately have several health benefits, but their health effects when done together haven’t been properly researched. Still that does not rule out its potential as a great life choice.
