The ketogenic diet was first used in 1921 by Russell Wilder to treat epilepsy. Recently, keto food regimen emerged as an effective as well as rapid weight loss diet. This is due to the excessive fat, moderate protein and low carbohydrate content of the diet.

Also sex hormones and thyroid levels should be checked at intervals to make sure that this diet is not having have damaging effects on the hormones.
